You watch your kids train every week. Boxing. Muay Thai. BJJ. Maybe all three.
You tell yourself you could do it too. You should do it too.
Then you remember what happened last time you tried hitting pads with them. Gassed after 30 seconds. Form went to shit. Shoulder tweaked on a hook.
That's when the voice kicks in: "Maybe I'm too old. Maybe I missed my window."
